A lot of photographs are good but only some are great. It might be due to the image being technically challenging or perhaps it has an extraordinary story. The Photograph Room was founded by Hermione McCosh who is a professional photographer and has been a collector of photography all her life.

“I often buy photographs if it is something that I feel I would never be able to re create myself. I own a print by Don McCullin: Protester, Cuban Missile Crisis, Whitehall, London (1962). This is a moment in time that will never happen again. I bought another print by Nirav Patel, who is a photographer working in San Francisco. It is a close up image in black and white image of a girl spinning which I find extremely compelling, the texture of the dress and the movement all seems to come together. It is exciting to feel inspired or moved by a work of art, to buy it and be able to see it every day hanging on your wall.”

The Photograph Room is about promoting, exploring and celebrating photography, an art form which has now been around for over a hundred years. Limited edition prints have been carefully selected in order to offer something unique to photography lovers, collectors or as a present which is beautiful and lasting.

Read the Journal for curious photographic tales, insights into photographers lives and how they create their work. Guest writers will be exploring the history of photography focussing on particular photographers who have influenced and championed the art form helping to shape it and create what it is today.
